Greetings Fashion Families from your Principal, Daryl Blank. Two weeks to go until Regents exams begin. After school and weekend tutoring has begun. Tutoring schedules for Math, Global History, United States History, Living Environment and Earth Science are on the school website. Please make sure you are touching base with your child and they are going to the tutoring they need.
An important announcement for HSFI Parents is that this Wednesday, June 1 is a testing day for students who are taking the Common Core Trigonometry and Integrated Algebra exams. If your child is not taking one of these exams, they do not attend school on this date.
Please take a look at a draft of our Grading Policy for next school year (it was attached to the weekly email I sent out) – the main change is going from letter grades to numeric grades – teachers would give numeric grades from 65-100. For example, if a student had a 73 average, their report card grade would be 73. If a student had a 96 average, their report card grade would be 96. There would be one failing grade – 55. The grading policy was so far been supported by the School Leadership Team, the HSFI Parents Association, our student government and our HSFI staff. Please email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have concerns about the grading policy.
