FASHIONABLE TIMES Principal's Message 12.6

Greetings Fashion Families from your Principal Daryl Blank.  Please make sure you continue to check out The Fashionable Times Blog where we will include all the important information you need as Fashion parents.  The website link is: http://hsfifashionabletimes.blogspot.com/

We are officially in the home stretch of the Fall term as we have entered the third marking period.  Colleges will see the grades that students receive at the end of this semester in January.  Students who need additional help in their classes can choose between the tutoring that is available from our teaching staff or from their classmates who are in the National Honor Society.  In some cases, students learn from one another better than from an adult.  Both options are available to HSFI students.

Tomorrow, December 7, is a First Monday bell schedule.  As you know with a First Monday schedule, students will be dismissed from school early and our staff will be meeting in teacher teams for professional development.  First period classes begin at 8:30 am.  Second period classes begin at 9:09 am.  Students who finish school after 8th period will be dismissed at 1:43 pm.  Students who finish school after 9th period will be dismissed at 2:22 pm.

As I contacted you this past week, HSFI was selected by the NYC Department of Education as a new SING school.  SING is a fun and exciting musical competition show that is written, produced, performed and designed by the students.  Students can get involved in SING in the following ways: set & costume design, dancing, singing, acting, musical performance, script & songwriting, and marketing.   If you child is interested in participating in SING, encourage them to complete the survey I sent to them through Jupiter Grades and their HSFI email.  SING is a totally student run production, but we certainly can use parent help in guiding our students – if you are interested in helping out, please complete the following survey that is below on this email and in the HSFI Parents section of the website:

Just a reminder about the generous donation of top-designer glasses frames from the Council for Fashion Designers of America through the HSFI Advisory Board, the Falcon Health Center and Manhattan Eyeworks.  Students should visit the health center to let them know they are interested in these frames and do a vision screening.

Thank you!
