This past
Friday we had an amazing College T-shirt Day where practically the entire staff
participated by wearing shirts from the college they attended. We have created a wonderful college going
culture with our college prep classes, Youth Leaders, Bridge Coaches and this
annual event! On Monday, October 26,
HSFI will be showcased by the Mayor’s Office and NYC Department of Education
for our college access work. The Mayor
or Deputy Mayor, NYC Department of Education Deputy Chancellor Phil Weinberg
and the press will be here to celebrate the great work we do in this area of
focus.
This Wednesday we will be administering the PSAT to
our 11th grade students. Our seniors will
be going on college trips on this day.
This
Wednesday and Thursday, we will be having the NY District Attorney’s office to
speak to our students about Cyberbullying and its seriousness. Most of the student conflicts here at HSFI
(and probably the world) are the result of some negative interaction in the
virtual world. 9th and 10th
graders will in the auditorium on Wednesday for this presentation. 11th and 12th graders
will attend this presentation on Thursday.
